Pek specialises in working with young children and their families.  She has had 20 years experience in working with children as a therapist and a teacher of children with learning, social, emotional and behavioural difficulties.

Pek has an innate sensitivity and ability to relate to a child’s world.  She brings this deep understanding to her work, and focuses strongly on bringing about the best possible outcomes for children and their families.  She sees your child as a person with his/her own unique experience of the world, and works to find a therapeutic solution which best fits the child and their family.

Pek has been employed as a Child Counsellor with several non-government agencies, where she has worked with children who have experienced a variety of traumas, substance abuse in the family and domestic violence.  She has also worked extensively with children in out-of-home care.

Pek has lived and worked in several different countries and cultures and she is experienced in working and communicating with children of other cultures and languages.  She has an understanding of the complexities involved in migration and living in a culture other than one’s own.  Pek has also worked closely with Aboriginal children.

Pek has received specialist training in Play Therapy.  She continues to undergo regular professional development in all relevant areas of child psychotherapy and counselling, as well as keeping up-to-date with advances in Play Therapy and Filial Therapy, a branch of play therapy which involves and empowers parents.  She has had experience and interest in many forms of experiential and expressive therapies e.g. psychodrama, Hakomi psychotherapy, sandtray therapy and art therapy and continues with professional development in these fields where relevant.  Pek is registered with the following associations and is bound by their codes of ethical practice:
